About Me

Angie Berrett, RN, RYT - 200, SUPY

I am a Registered Nurse with almost 20 years’ experience in health care. Throughout my years in nursing, I learned that health and wellness are not the same as being “free” from illness. On my personal health journey, a regular yoga practice became essential for my mind and body to connect and heal, moving me from just surviving into thriving.

I have been practicing yoga for over 15 years. The benefits

I receive from a regular yoga practice inspired me in 2018 to become a 200-hour registered yoga teacher (RYT) through YogaWorks in Columbia, MD. I quickly became a certified SUP yoga instructor (SUPY) through Longwave Yoga in

Wilmington, NC.

A few years ago I started on a journey to heal the “black hole”

I felt inside of me, left behind from years of child abuse. Yoga provided opportunities for me to work through the emotional and physical healing I needed. Moving and flowing through beautiful yoga classes led by wonderfully inspiring teachers,

I connected to my inner strength. I discovered the more

I physically moved the more my emotional pain healed. I now encourage others to move, letting go of their own “black holes” of pain.

I started AB Yoga to encourage others moving from surviving into thriving. Everything I do with AB Yoga is focused on that goal, including the name. The AB in AB Yoga has multiple meanings. It is my initials  – AB for Angie Berrett. AB also stands for Andolana Bala, Sanskrit words for movement and strength.

AB Yoga’s logo is the beautiful lotus flower symbolizing rebirth, enlightenment, and overcoming obstacles. The lotus starts its journey deep in muddy water. It must persevere, growing up and out of the muddy bottom to bloom into a beautiful flower sitting on top of its challenges and obstacles. For many of us, moving from surviving into thriving follows a similar path. We must overcome our own muddy and dark challenges, until we bloom, radiating on top of the water.

I love to be outside! I love to hike, paddleboard and run. Recently I started learning to surf. SUP yoga combines two of my favorite activities---my love for the water, and the flow of yoga! My sweet dog and trusty companion, Ria, often can be found right alongside me, even on my paddleboard.

My passion is to help others experience the benefits of yoga in a fun, uplifting and informative setting. I love to live life and believe that everyone can move from surviving into thriving!
